Rather than waiting until problems become severe, Wai Ora provides intensive, relationship-based social work that helps young people and their whānau overcome challenges early.
Our registered social workers work alongside young people, families, schools and community partners to improve wellbeing, strengthen relationships, increase school engagement, and reduce the need for more intensive statutory intervention.
By providing support at the right time, we help young people build resilience, develop practical life skills, and create positive pathways for their future.
Wai Ora works collaboratively with schools, iwi, health providers and community organisations.
Our work is shaped by our Christian values and carried out in a way that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi and respects tikanga Māori.
We believe every person has inherent worth, dignity, and potential. We welcome people of all cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds, recognising the unique identity, strengths and aspirations that each individual and their whānau bring.
Strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Through compassion, respect and genuine partnership (whanaungatanga), we create a safe environment where young people and families feel heard, valued and supported.
Our therapeutic approach combines relationship-based social work with evidence-informed practice to help young people:
